Nice SBA set. Do you also have the the 4 SBA proofs?

Nope, I don't have the proofs. Made that decision because I am looking to do all demoniations of US coins back as far as I can afford to do while still keeping reasonable quality and I was afraid that including proofs (and silver proofs) in the mix would make it economically unfeasible for me. But now that you mention it, doing proofs in a smaller set like this might work. I could easily toss them on the second page.

Yeah, that is my excuse too.

Nice set - it looks very well put together. Congratulations!

This is making me want to get another box of small dolalrs to see if I can get lucky to find any 1981 SBAs of my own. they are the only one eluding me. I think at this point I am more likely to find a 50 Jefferson nickel or 87 P half, than an 81 SBA of any mintmark.

Nice set. SBAs are under appreciated imo. I dont love the obverse but anything with the Ike reverse I'm all for. They grow on you over time as you get them.

trent, as there were no silver SBAs, and only a small handful of regular proofs, adding them in would not be extremely expensive.

And nice set.

Thanks smoke. Yah no silver SBA's. This SBA collection really wasn't a goal of mine. It was more of a product of obtaining mint sets to fill Dansco's for cents/nickels/dimes/quarters/etc. So If I got into including proofs or silvers in any of those sets, I know it would be just nagging me to do it on these too and vice versa. I so would rather have all holes filled in an uncirculated album over having blank holes in an uncirc. plus proofs nagging at me for years at a time.

Earlier today other posts got me thinking about including proofs in this sets since it is such a tiny set. The basic proofs for SBA's are not too bad, but the type II's are a different story. So for now I guess I'll stick with getting MS/uncirc's back as far as I can easily go (probably 1965) and then spend the money there, then start looking at options.

It's complicated. I think I have my plan mapped out for the next year of collecting, but it seems to change slightly each day.

Nice set, trent. I've got mine in a Whitman Classic album, and it has slots for proofs and varieties. As smokeriderdon mentioned, there's not much expense in snagging the handful of proofs. However, as you mention, the Variety II's can be a bit pricey, which is mine are currently empty.

And yes, the path of coin collecting can have many branches; sometimes it's difficult to stick to the original plan.

Good luck!

Great set you got.

I someday hope to complete one myself.

@Frank Cooper, Why not just get the type 1?

Looks great!

I didn't realize the entire P&D&S circulation run fit on 1 page.
I got a blank SBA page, which has 16 holes (not twelve like this one). I opted out of varieties, but added the proofs; 15 total. The 16th hole holds the medal from the 1982 proof set (where a 1982 SBA would gone).

@ solotime, My Intercept shield album has a hole for both types. It looks kind of empty without one.

Album holes are meant to be filled... but these particular ones require a certain level of commitment.

I meant to put a type one inside of it. So this means you'll have two type ones and no holes and your wallet isn't broke. It's your choice to do whatever you want with the folder or album.

I had to do this for the 1970 S BU Lincoln Cent.
No way on earth I'm paying 50 bucks for a Lincoln Cent.

Ah, I see what you're getting at now! A valid option if you choose to do so.

Problem is I'd forget in a year that it was a V1 and pat myself on the back for somehow coming up with a V2! Or is that a problem? Hmmmm.....

Well, I guess I could put 2 Type one's in.
But, Deep down inside, It would bug the heck out of me.
