With this list I'm sure you've been able to get more on the look out for notes, and who knows maybe it's a silent recruitment as well lol.

I'm interested but know next to nothing about notes except what a radar is. I have about 6 bills with these prefix's listed in the first page list, haven't check the second page list yet. I guess my questions are what else is there to it, should these be paper or poly? Does a low or high serial number have to accompany the prefix or a special signature? Basically I dont have a clue how this all works so if some one could give me a quick rundown on the rules..so to say, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

AgCoinAu, thank you for an updated list. I will continue to hold some newer bills as more replacements are discovered.
Someone else will be able to explain this better, but replacement notes happen when there is some type of error; the notes are destroyed and replaced. It's as simple as having a note with the serial numbers within a given range, E.g: $5 poly HBL 0.891M-0.900M - any notes from HBL 0891000-0899999 are replacement notes. There is nothing noticeable on any bill itself to determine replacement notes (no special signatures or anything), unlike older notes with an asterisk or an X. Having 6 replacement notes would be awesome! Post them if you can.

Penny: from the pictures, your notes are not replacements as they don't fall with in the replacement ranges...
ie: Your $100 EKM note has a serial number of 4.272M
EKM 4.320M-4.680M Confirmed Sheet Rep'l Range (GPM26)

Lol good analogy! It certainly is not easy. I've found two replacement notes in circulation (one of them birds, of all series). I've probably handled several replacement notes, but they are impossible to tell unless you have a list of replacement note ranges.

What is the merit of collecting notes in this way? Last coin show I went to one dealer had a box full of modern polymer replacement notes. He asked me if I collect replacements, I said no not really, to which he replied "you should, there's a book coming out soon with a list of them". I'm thinking, it's in his own best interest to pump up his inventory, but to me, as Shoeplier said, it's not possible to visibly know on the street what is what. Plus, brick searchers have a complete edge over poorer collectors. I don't see the point, as there are hundreds of notes like this that one isn't really more rare than the next, each serial number on any note regardless of replacement status or not is unique. But that dealer telling me that I shoooould collect them is just odd. I've probably handled a bunch of these replacements for $100 bills. Is there an actual point in collecting these or is this a simple case of obsessive compulsive coin collecting? (OC3)

i was thinking the same, looking at the list it looks like the real ones to collect would be the regular issue bills cause there wont be to many left after all the replacements our in circulation
