Yeah, I was going to say 62, the coin has some issues.

Quote: ...the coin has some issues. What kind of " issues" are you referring to? Hopefully you are not going by my inadequacies of photography, but rather the OP.

Nothing that would cause it to gennie, but it's obviously not a high grade example as witnessed by the multiple tics behind the head, light frost breaks on the neck, spot above the lower left star... at 63, it's maxed out, imho. For such a common coin, I would have been inclined to hold out for a nicer example.
What was the grade on the ANACS slab?

Quote: For such a common coin... Perhaps you can enlighten me on another example of this variety (RPD FS-1302). Quote: What was the grade on the ANACS slab? It was a direct cross-over, MS63.

The variety may be rare, but the coin itself is common, no?
Props on a pop 2, one finer though. That's tough. And I like your 63 more than the other which looks more like a slider. If I had my choice, though, I'd take the 62 in coinfacts.
EDIT: I bet at least one of the 1800 65 and 66's certified by PCGS is of this variety, since it's a minor variety and they wouldn't slab it without the fee being paid for attribution.

Thank you for your opinion chasingtailbar.
I know the possessor of the MS62 and he is not going to give it up without some deep pockets...I tried.
I was real fortunate to pick this one up from Fred Weinberg.

Would you mind sharing what the owner of the 62 wants for his? Just curious.

I'd like to know what you paid for yours If I might inquire...
That coin looks a heckuva lot nicer than a 63 if you ask me. RPD aside, I think she is a beauty and a real gem for the slabbed 7070

I paid just south a $100 for mine...the MS62 that CTB was inquiring about...let's say approx. triple of what I got mine for.

Is it the variety that made it so expensive for the date? RPD FS-1302?
I see 1883 NCs in 64 going about $60, and MS65 about $150. I'm still learning about this variety stuff.

Yes, varieties can greatly increase the value of "common" coins.

Yes, and there is an AU-58 at GreatCollections for a couple of months. It was probably one of the first of variety and then a few others "showed up" and drove the price down. Or it could have been a bidding frenzy. http://www.greatcollections.com/Coi...2-PCGS-AU-58

Well if I missed the grade by a mile (2 points lower than I thought), at least I got the variety right!
