Wow, that's a cool find....no better than XF though.....someone had been saving it for 60+ years, until it fell into the wrong hands and they spent it.

I feel very lucky to have found this bill. Whatever happened to it in the past, it's all behind it. Can't do anything to change it, can't I? I will do my very best to give it a good home, like whoever first saved this bill

And I still need a grading guide I hope coinsandcanada comes back up fast!

Edit: I think I should just leave it in the banknote holder for pics then, keep it nice and straight? By the way, the teller handled the crisp notes by the edges. Are you also only supposed to handle banknotes by the edges too?

Thank you! I guess the person who saved this bill should get a thank you too for keeping it in great condition

I never thought I'll own a Devil's Face since I don't collect bills that much, but I got one so early into my collecting hobby. The bank just happened to have someone bring it in that day, and I happen to be the lucky person to pick it up, for a dollar

Anyone can give a value for this bill? I know that values tend to fall sharply for circulated vs uncirculated grades, but I can't check prices.

We need a smilie of someone's jaw falling and hitting the floor...

I've never had something with so much numismatic value! I'll go look for a rigid banknote holder so it can't get accidentally bent or folded.

Nice 'Devil's Face' find..

I was going to say, EF on some of the photos but, the stain on the last pic would probably bring it down to VF IMO

To access a cached version of a website, you go to http://www.cachedpages.com, and type in a URL in the box. Then you click any of the buttons other than google cache (because google cache requires you to stay on one page). Then you click the most recent version of the website when it was last saved by the cache, and you go on it as normal.

Thanks SHATA9a! But which stain are you talking about? I don't see any, just the smashed-up top.

Thanks andrewbi! The one in archive.org works perfectly

I thought you had said, there was an 'oil' stain on the top of the bill at one point, did you edit it out?

I didn't, I just said that the top of the bill got "all smashed up". Like someone stuffed it into a wallet roughly. It looks a little better now that it's in a banknote holder though.

Maybe you got confused when the bill appeared to be see-through? It's because there's a table lamp behind the bill and I didn't notice that you can see through the bill until I uploaded the pics.

Edit:
Brought the bill to my LCS (= local coin seller, right?) and asked how much he thinks this this is worth, he said that it can make an Uncirculated grade and would fetch $130. I pointed out the folds but he said they were minor and didn't count. I don't think it's uncirculated, perhaps it's his lighting or something that makes it look better?
And here's the conversation that follows:
"How much did you get this for?"
"One dollar."
"Are you kidding me? Where did you get it, ebay?"
"Someone sold me $1 bills for face." (I hope that doesn't count as lying because I don't like lying, but I don't want to say I got it from a bank either because then I'll have a competitor)
And pretty much everyone in there were surprised.

And I bought a rigid bill holder, here it is, in its new home:
Sweet-Bank-Find:-Crisp-1954-Dollar!-Upd:-Devil's-Face!
Old bills are BIG. That's in a George VI bill size holder.

I asked whether it's worth to get this graded too, he said not now unless I want to sell it. I guess it'll stay like this raw with me

Yeah, don't worry, I understand. I get confused a lot too because my memory is so bad, you can't tell me to do more than two things at one instruction or I'll forget
