I don't think it is an attempted hole, just a bad hit. But combined with the heavy scratches on the back, the weak areas and what looks like some other damage down by the date I think $145 was too high as well. $100 maybe but no more.

I bought it from a shop on e-bay actually. As for being for sale I suppose all coins are for sale at the right price! :)

I have several old coppers and have seen this particular coin before on ebay. At least the cheek blemish looks familiar. Dave was shooting you staight at half of what you offered as being a fair price. |
