Personally prefer PCGS, coins themselves being equal

I base my decision on the coin but if all else were equal including price, I would go for PCGS.

Don't care about which TPG brings the most when up for a resale, or which TPG grades the most accurately. Heck, I'd buy a coin in a SGS "slab" if I like the coin itself. I'd buy the slab that has the most attractive coin.

I have sent 12 coins in that I purchased raw for grading.
All to ANACS and I have not problem with the grades and enjoy them.
However I will admit that when I was shopping for my Oregon Trail half and Texas half I was presented with a PGCS, a NGC, and an ANACS for each and I walked away with a PCGS and a NGC.
I guess I have a double standard when it comes to buying vs selling (or owning) but I have no intention of selling any of the ones I sent in.

Would you have passed on the ANACS slabs even if you thought they had the better coins in them?

If I buy a coin already slabbed I have a slight preference for PCGS. But if I'm getting raw coins slabbed I use NGC because I'm an ANA member and don't have to join NGC.

I think that the PCGS slabs look the best and that they do the best grading. I think that if I had the choice on buying the same coin from either, I would buy the PCGS

I also think that PCGS coins have more resale value than the same coins graded by different companies. If you are getting coins slabbed with the intent to sell them, I would go with PCGS

Quote: Would you have passed on the ANACS slabs even if you thought they had the better coins in them? When I picked up my San Diego at the ANA show last week the dealer had and OGH PCGS MS63 for $85 and a newer PCGS MS64 which we settled on $95 after the fact. I REALLY REALLY wanted an OGH but that coin was hammered compared to the 64. I think if an ANACS coin was better than a PCGS or NGC coin at the same table and I could compare them side by side I would definitely choose the better coin regardless of the holder or grade on it if priced accordingly.

PCGS for raw US, NGC for GSA and Redfields, and world coins. ANACS for nothing.

I buy the coin I like best, then bring it home, break it out of the holder and into the Dansco it goes.
