I say open them and look for errors and varieties and any high grade ones. You could also get a folder and start a set.Do you know and kids that might be interested in them? John1  |

Well, here it is!    Here is that open roll.   Some samples from that roll.  Most of the rolls are from "United California Bank" with a couple from B of A. Inventory: 9 Unknown rolls 2 1966 3 1968s 7 1968d 1 1969d 4 1970d 3 1970s 11 1971s So now what do y'all think about opening them? Edited by Agrippa

Excellent finds so far, I am sure better finds are yet to come in those rolls.
Open all of them and tell us what you've got. Who knows, there's every chance that it may have some BU wheaties in there.

Open 'em up!
Back when I was a new coin collector, I opened up a couple of rolls of cents that my Dad had bought before I was born for playing penny ante poker. They were all 68-D and were in beautiful condition.

Awesome topic- I've been waiting to hear everyone comments on this.
About 10 years ago when I started off in banking, I was a teller and in charge of placing the weekly currency/ coin order for the branch . Of the 12 boxes of pennies I ordered for the week, 8 boxes were all uncirculated from 1960 to 1984-all sorts of mint marks, some even in actual Federal Reserve wrappers... I specifically remember Kansas City Fed rolls. I bought all 8 boxes and still have them. I always wondered if I should open them or not? I do have 6 rolls of the 1969 S and would love to know if I have one of the elusive double dies. I also got about 25 rolls of customer wrapped wheats in those boxes too ... But only those were non machine wrapped. I'm still amazed at how many original wrapped rolls I found that day. You truly never know what you will stumble across .

I don't think I could get a roll of BU 1970-S cents and NOT look for small dates! The circulating supply was picked clean decades ago, but I think you have a real shot here!

Open them, of course! Just make sure to protect those coins when they come out, to avoid quick toning.
