Whoo-Hoo! Super score then!! Gets a 'you suck" award, I can't pick one of these for the life of me, been searching coin shows and online for almost 20 years and this is one I regularly look for. Congrats on the fantastic find.

This is a cool variety, akin to the Flying Eagle cent clashes. Thanks for posting that link, Waxemm. This relatively soft clash would have otherwise been tough for my aging eyes to discern! Is there somewhere a website that lists all known double-denomination, clashed U.S. coins? While die clashes aren't major errors, the double denomination aspect makes this one intriguing to me. The stronger the clash and higher the grade, the more desirable these seem to be. Another member recently posted a Seated Liberty coin, having such a strong die clash that Lady Liberty's nose resembled that of Pinocchio! I'd not before seen that one, either. That one and this Two Cent Piece are two clashes that I'll now have to look for!

westcoin I just got plain ole lucky. I'm not sure how long it sat there before I saw it. It was hard to see. The die crack is what caught my attention.

I picked up an AU58 Two Cent clash earlier this year and you have to have the light hit it just right and the the IHC profile presents herself.

I picked up my very first 2 Cent piece this weekend and I am suspicious that I have stumbled on one of these. I can see at certain lighting angles a faint diagonal lineation right there where it is indicated and a slight lineation or "joining" between the T and S. The diagonal line is higher and closer to the edge of the 2 than the one in the OP's picture and ends in almost a bulb-nose tip. The T and S have a kind of bridge between them.
This is a raw coin that is represented by the seller as MS 63-64 and I am absolutely on pins and needles to send it in and get it graded! Almost all R but probably comes back RB.
I told people that since I'm just a collector, it will probably come back AU Details Cleaned w/o a dieclash whereas if an investor or dealer sends it in it will be MS64 RD 1901 LOL. It's exciting but I will be happy if it just grades clean.
I will try to set up to post a picture

Question on this variety ... Many of these 1864's evidence various degrees of a rotated die. Do any of this clashed variety evidence rotation as well?

secondnomore - sounds like you have the correct diagnostics, keep us informed.
ExoGuy - I will check mine, but I don't think I recall any rotation on them, I'm up to at least 3 of them now, all slabbed. Sadly not a one Cherrypicked, and I've been searching since 1995 pretty seriously for one.

Thanks for the speedy reply, guys. I was unaware of this variety. I checked some 50+ 1864's in my possession and no luck on this variety. Of course, the majority of my double-cents are counterstamped. As I attend many shows, this variety will be added to my search hunting list.

None of mine have any rotation either. 3 out of 3 coins.
