To me a monster has always been when there is silver in almost every roll with plenty of Enders .... Extremely rare... I'd say when there is over 100 silvers In a box.

You may be speaking of a "dream box", at least that's what we've called it the last half-dozen years...100+ pieces of silver pulled from a $500 box of halves.

A "monster box" - sealed, $500 box of ASE's, from the mint.

coinsrus,

You'd think finding a monster box would just fuel the fire but it did the opposite for me. You feel like its all down hill from here. I've heard others say the same. I'm sure there are exceptions.

btw, I kept searching after my first monster box. I was lucky enough to find a second but stopped searching all together within a month or two. I still love coins and enjoy reading about CRHing finds.

Well the farther we get away from the silver days, the less of it that remains in circulation. If you guys would stop hoarding it, the rest of us could!

My friend the silver was tough to find in 1980. Silver dimes hard to find. silver halves too. (we threw back the 40%)loL

Lots of silver to be found back in 2007 when I got back in!
Still much silver out there if you put in the effort -

I'm just bummed. My credit union said they had a huge pile of half dollar rolls but they had locked the vault as it was almost closing. So I come back Monday and I "just missed them".

Yeah, it was a major let down.

I'll be honest, I don't think the 18 year old teller knew what a half-dollar was, though. He looked really confused at first. I'm only twice his age and I've rarely seen them in the wild, so I can't blame him too much. I wouldn't be surprised if he was mistaken and they never had them at all.

If they did have them, I hope some other collector is having a blast today looking through them all in my place.

In one of my last two boxes I had 5-90% and 3-40%, the next box 1-40% have only opened 10 boxes, for myself I would say that 5 coins is .5% (better than most banks). I would almost have a heart attack over 50 coins (5% of box). One or two of them a year would be great, but I would have to keep my mouth shut. I am the only person who gets coins from my bank, I turn in to another two different named banks.
