I confess to not having a really powerful software package to maniulate photos. I've got Zoombrowser that came with my Canon S3 IS, and Irfanware (a shareware that I had earlier, and then updated with a copy through this site.)

Digital PhotoShop Pro = DPP came for free with
the reflex camera
Internet evaluations say a RAW pic treated with DPP has a complete
different feel from a JPEG with Zoombrowser

My expectations are low though

First I will try installing iphotoplus which I have been using for 6 years on my old computer . It is a win98SE program but I read online that my XP pro computer can generate pseudo 98 criteria

If that is not possible or satisfactory I will go to my brother who got adobe photoshop pro and see whether that is as good as my old iphotoplus program

i read my booklet 4 times now
I started in creative mode P
400 ISO
auto focus auto aperture auto time auto whitebalance
best quality JPEG and continuous burst shooting
First trials are in natural light free hand 1/250 seconds

I learned that fotos of coins are not giving a round coin well photoshop squared that
Sunlight is not constant and gives shadows
Of the 30 odd fots I kept 4 that are acceptable

Model was empress Sisi like in the series of films of the empress of Austria

1st an unretouched shot with wooden box
Ok pic refuses to load jpeg prob to big

Save it at lesser quality. Coin Community will downsize whatever you load to 800px anyways, if you're sending larger than that. 80% quality in Photoshop will bring the size down to manageable, without any loss in quality we can see.

I can't wait to see the pics.

Ok now this selfsame coin in box after fotoshopping and removing box and I forgot what else I did
and this is all on a jpeg which was 2500x2500 approx
I will wait with the raw format untill I got a free week
I am still waiting for the macro adds I ordered so this is purely out of hand zoomlense since I was too lazy to fetch my alu tripod
I was able to get 5 out of 10 quality and still was told I had 75K
I wonder why the size stays that big at 500 pix and 76 dpi

Well I am learning that whilst you slab a coin on a scanner that making fots is something entirely different

So I made a second foto shoot of 40 pics under a single full spectrum light bulb of 40 watts still no tripod
I think the colors are somewhat cold
I am still shooting 40pics to have 2 good ones but at continuous shooting with a card that will take 320 pics and a battery that will do more then a thousand before reloading I can afford brute force

The reverse showing Sisi with her companion in Switerland hurrying to catch the steamboat minutes before she was killed by accident cause the anarchist did not find his first choice target
A single bulb on a black background is cold and dark ( full spectrm light or not

My photoshop said file 85 forum says over 90 at quality 5 of 10
I will have to find a way to sync the sizes
This is qual 4 of 10

So I think I got the best results in full spectrum light and photoshopped to auto color or in spot light with a cold filter 82

attached is the first in autocolor

The camera has several jpeg formats and raw
I am doing the shoots in 8 megapixels jpeg which means I suppose that the conversion is done in camera but that it is raw quality
So I have great difficulty getting below 90 K without going to 6 or less quality

Well I will be back to computer problems for the next week
I think shooting with a hot and a cold light together is the next project
Does not seem the macro add on I ordered or the tripod is going to do much for me

For 35 years I have been using a manual only Canon FTQL reflex with kodacolor 400 film
The canong case was real thick leather and the flash would go 35 feet .
The magic happened in developping the film and printing
Now I guess the magic is going to happen in raw to jpeg conversion and photoshop afterwards .
I may want to play with the Kelvin temperature
I do not think with all those hot and cold filters available that I shoule meddle with auto banlance white setting .

I think I got the title wrong he ; it is a 30D
What a stupid idea to reverse the combination
