Sell some of your completed ones that you don't really look at / enjoy to free up space and funds for more coins!

I used to live in a very undesirable neighborhood. Put them in empty cereal boxes with the rest of your cereal. No one checks your Wheaties during a burgulary.

matttheriley your suggestion has quite a bit of merit. But then I feel if I did that then I would lose quite a bit of satisfaction. I just don't feel personally comfortable getting rid of something that I put a lot of time into and saying to someone I used to have completed Franklin or Eisenhower I can't show you it because I got these Morgans after I sold them.

It seems like a double edged sword. But it's worth keeping in mind.

When the Album is filled, just dump the coins back into circulation and start over again.

What I wanted to vote: Buy a new safe and agrue with wife later

Practicle solution: Place some of the albums that are lower on your 'favorites' list into a Bank Safety Deposit box.

Buy a bigger safe, and allow her to buy an item or items equal to the cost of it.

I'm with the "buy a new safe and argue with wife later" crowd.

Store only the most valuable albums (or coins) in the safe.
Keep those that don't qualify for safe storage under the above criterion out of the safe, and make the access to those easier.

The nett storage volume in my safe available for coins is only 12"x7"x4". Two mini albums with 7 of 6 pocket pages each that go into my safe, are quite sufficient for my needs. That's storage for 84 coins, each in a 2x2.
84 of your most valuable coins can represent a VERY large numismatic investment. The album pages are manufactured from polypropylene.

Danscos will not fit into my safe; they are too wide. If I had them, I would take the most valuable coins out of each album, and fill the gaps in them with much cheaper space filler coins. That allows easy access and reference facility to the great bulk of your collection.

What if until you can convince the wife to buy a new/larger safe. You updated and improved your current collection. You can enjoy the current collection and have the fun of finding and improving the current albums! There is always someone who is doing the same as you and could use the coins in your collection for their collection!

Depends on where you live and how handy your are. Also, what is a COMPLETED ALBUM? Never knew there were such things. I've got well over 100 Albums and so far never had one completed. Full, yes, but completed, never. For example my #1 Mercury dime Album is still short 6 coins with FSB's. All 12 Mercury dime Albums are full but still not completed. Just no such thing.
And as to where to put them all. Most valuable are in safe deposit boxes. If your handy, you could do as I did and make a false wall in my basement. Look and sounds like a real wall but is movable and behind it is lots of shelves full of valuable stuff. Any criminals could wander around here all day long and never know about it. Enough room for several hundred more Albums, rolls, jars, etc. of coins. Also, guns and ammo.

I voted other because "Throw out wife" was not available in the options.

that whole "ask for forgiveness not permission" is a line a thief uses and id NEVER the right thing to do.

I would just get the extra and leave them out to look at to free up room in the safe. Put the most "valuable" ones $$$-wise in the safe, since you aren't looking at or handling them all the time anyway, and you can jsut know that the ones out to look at have better brethren put away.

Depends on how you want to look at them, but if you have that many extra you could frame some like a picture to hang on the wall.

If you have way too many extra that are duplicates, then selling some off to get more will mean you can fill holes.

Also you could tell her she has too much of her "collection" of something and she cannot get more unles you can get more of your collection. It is only fair after all.
