Thanks for the correction Roger, I was just going by what was written on the flip. I really don't know much about the differences yet

Error collecting is a long journey of learning... sometimes you make expensive mistakes, but you always learn from each one you buy...

Well this one only cost me $2. Good deal no matter what type of clip it is. :)

Quote: Okay I understand that the blakesley effect will take place for a clip... but I ment.. how can you tell the difference between an ejection clip versus a rolling edge clip I am curious as well. Does an ejection clip take place after the strike? Therefore would be fully struck and as a result not show the Blakesley effect? Whereas a rolling edge clip would show, because it was clipped before the strike. If not, please explain. Thanks.

Any kind of clip that comes from the striking press wont have the Blakesley effect..I believe the majority of press struck clips involve a frozen or stuck collar die and are not straight although if a piece of straight edge hardware or Feeder finger where to be involved a straight clip could happen but "No Blakesley"..that happens in the upsetting mill where a rim is being squeezed onto the coin prior to striking.

It is a term I am not familiar with. It could be interpreted two ways?
1. as being a double-struck coin, whereby the second strike severed off a piece from the original planchet... I think these are quite scarce
2. found on coins that were struck on incomplete curved clipped planchets (or partial clips as some call them), and separated in the striking chamber, therefore not showing a Blakesley effect.
