Not acetone, I like the olive oil...I'll see if I can clean it up and repost a pic.

I wouldn't use olive oil, it might mess with the patina. Acetone is better, it won't leave any residue behind.

Looks like an RPM, taking the junk off helps clarify.

It does look interesting. I would save that one for now. When Coppercoins opens up for submissions again, you might want to submit it. Also to James Wiles you might want to send an image to see what he thinks. (Variety Vista Site for submissions.) But I would get an image of the full date and mint mark location show, along with the one you posted here. See what he thinks? The 1950's cent dies were way over used past normal retirement and the die wear would be in that direction. So it might just be die wear, but them make that call.

Thanks coop! I wasn't actually that confident with it ...it's definitely curious. I'm still trying to clean it up a little more. I'll post a pic if things look more detailed.

In the future I would use Mineral oil instead of olive oil. Olive oil is organic and can rot with time. The mineral oil is more like the oil that coins are exposed to. IMOHO Don't over do the cleaning as you don't want to strip the surface making it pink. A green thorn is noce to use to remove the gunk around the devices. A toothpick is too hard and when the debris comes loose from the devices, the sand in the debris can scratch the coin. Always experiment on a normal dirty coin until you get your technique down. On the DVD I mention what I also use to remove the debris from the devices.

Green thorn. Interesting. Sharp but flexible. Nice tip!

Green orange tree thorn did the trick. Much more revealed. Looks to be south and counter clockwise tilted.

Looks like I may have sent out a Media player disk instead of a DVD? He will let me know.
