I'm thinking that this is the BF-2 variety based on the date placement. http://www.doubledimes.com/1875CC-BF2.html

Definitely looks like the more common BF-2 variety, thanks for the link MV..

I am also leaning F12 on this one.

This is what we are dealing with on the insane prices of these lately:

Hurray! I found my 1875-CC piece. (My coins play hide and seek on me.)
I wasn't looking for an example, as were you Night-Hawk, but there is was
sitting in a dealer's case. A Good. An eye-appealing good.
I had told myself that IF I were to buy a 20 Cent piece I wound not settle for the common "S".
So I traded unwanted coins and cash to buy it.
But now this thread has me straining my eyes to identify the type!

So, my type set of Seated coinage needs only the dollar to complete.
HA!
Cold day in Florida before that happens.
But it is nice to read about a collector finding a satisfactory example of a wanted coin.
Count me in the F-12 group.

We want pics, Matthew!

(this is an excerpt from MV's link above.. It says 70-75% are BF-2 http://www.doubledimes.com/1875CC-BF2.html )

Nice color on that example, Matthew, hopefully the rim on yours is better.
(I know from experience you have a good eye for early silver..)

It's an F-12 all right but very solid and original for the grade. If there was such a grade I'd be willing to say F-12+
Rest in Peace

I agree with F-12 with above average eye appeal. Z nailed it with a + designation if there were such a thing at F-12.

Thanks for the compliment, Night-Hawk.
Yes, rims are better. The dark toning gives the figure a cameo effect.
But ebay is disappointing as of late. Outstanding MS-67 examples against VGs which are
damaged. Not much in between. And those I bought were at coin shows.
And that's for the Barbers. The very few Seated coins that I have were bought for the eye appeal.
You know, my poor eyes have one good trick learned over time:
"If a coin stops me in my tracks I had better take a closer look at it."
Did you not feel and act the same? And no quibble over the price. For me it is a question of pride
of ownership. Well, pride of custodianship.

The highest praise that I can give is that a coin is honest for the grade.
We who have been collecting for a long time know that honest coins are rare indeed.
No price list can teach that tiny bit of wisdom.

I think it might just sneak into F-15.

I agree it's a 15. At least a market-grade F15 at a major TPG. The rims are sharp and 100% intact, there are almost no contact marks in the fields, and the eye appeal is high.

Nice coin.

Here's another opinion on the coin,
but then who needs a TPG when you have CCF?

OOOOhhhh! That's a strong 12. ANACS tried to go conservative in many of their newer, yellow holders and this coin is a good example of that.
