I posted a "hey, I'm new here" post regarding an inherited collection here:

https://goccf.com/t/183711#1693440

It was suggested that I post pictures of my 2 coins on this subforum and solicit feedback and suggestions. I'm trying to determine if I should have these coins graded, or try to just sell them outright. And if I do decide to sell as-is, I'm curious what they may be worth. Any suggestions, tips, feedback is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The first coin is an 1886 US $5 Gold coin. I've attached front and back pictures.

Looks like an AU-Cleaned to me, those pictures are very small though, so try uploading bigger ones.
Worth melt plus maybe 15% (Or More to the right buyer and severity of the cleaning) because of the Near-Mint State condition (Atleast that's what I pay in Canada, not sure about prices in the US).

Looks like an 1886-S with the S being on the reverse below the eagle. S means San Francisco mint and it is a common date. Condition does appear AU+ but the pics are small and low-res for grading. There's 0.2419 troy ounces of fine gold in these gold half eagles ($5 pieces). That's about $299 USD tonight based on gold spot. Your coin is likely worth close to $400 retail based on it's condition assuming it is a problem-free AU+ coin. If selling you would do well to net $350 these days. Good luck with the collection!
