ATB San Francisco Business Strike Coins

I have been in the habit of buying ATB 10 pack sets consisting of both the P & D coins for the year. In 2013 the mints called them "2013 America the Beautiful Quarters Circulating Coin Set™ (N97)". You don't suppose that the Satin Sets would be in there would you.

In 2014 would this be the mint set to find the Satin coin
2014 United States Mint Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin Set (XA6)"?

I disagree. Consider how many proofs and other NIFC issues (also sold at a premium) are found and how they get usually get into circulation (dumped or spent by ignorant heirs or thieves).

There will be people reporting S-ATB finds... eventually.

I do try to see others point of view, and would agree that there would
be some "S" mint quarters make their way into circulation. Like NIFC or proof coins. And collectors may search for them while roll hunting.

Thinking that way, if that is the plan, and they will keep them because they
will have some value. Why not spend the dollar or two for a really nice
UNC example now?

The NIFC or proof coins I see being pulled from circulation I see are
most times .. less then BU or are impaired proof.

I understand some collectors like to put together modern sets because
they can pull coins from circulation. And there is nothing wrong with that.

For me .. I spend a lot of time in coin shops and talk to a lot of collectors.
Most of them will tell me they hope to put collections together that will
increase in value in the future. The chances of that happening by putting together
circulated coins may take a few generations .. or more.

Modern vs classic coins .. When doing modern coin sets a collector has the opportunity to put together high grade sets at a reasonable price. Classic coins sets are much harder, to find the coins, and expensive to put together.

There is also the argument that classic coins are a more beautiful coin. If there are coins in the future, I wonder how bad coins will look then, compared to the coins that are in circulation now. If president dollar reverses are a example .. it could really hurt coin collecting.

Everything in my 40+ years of collecting tells me there is a lot of upside to putting away a few "S" mint ATB Quarters.

Funny how people complain about the price of the ATB Quarters "S" Mint Bags and Rolls, when the much-higher mintage P and D true business strikes are sold for the exact same premium. The S Quarters are NIFC, and they grade about two to three points higher (on average) than the true business strikes.

I'm sure Dansco will address the circulation-finish "S" Quarters eventually, until then I'll have the rolls and a couple of extra 2012-S Quarter sets that I put into Whitman lenses.

I also buy an extra "S" 100-coin bag per year, and search it. The worst of them get spent (so far, running about 8 to 12 'culls' per bag).

The culls I mentioned had big hit marks and/or planchet rinse stains, so they were aesthetically 'impaired' even before I spent them. My extra 2013-P Native Dollar roll and 2014 JFK roll pair also had some 'spender-grade' culls.

An equal number per bag are "gems", hitting an honest MS-64+ or MS-65, and these are significantly better than any P/D business strikes I've ever found in BU bag/roll searching.

I'm now trying to decide which 2015-S ATB's to get a bag of, and I favor Blue Ridge Parkway so far....

SA4H, if I found any sort of Mint error coin in those bags (clip, Cud, off-center, etc.), I'd be dancing in the streets!
