that die crack looks familiar, does the 7 have some minor re punching on the bottom?

There is something under the bottom of the 7 and along the underside of the top of the 7, the vertical line is a scratch or foreign object. It just may be a re-punched 7. Thanks for pointing this out. The doubling is pretty nice on the S on the obverse.

thanks for telling me there is, there should be a little something in the 4 too which I think I see in the pic, this is the fourth one I've seen, one of which was on the forum, so they're starting to pop up.
I cant comment on the doubling with those pics.
still a cool coin.

The 47's are always very collectable ...

....and doubling would just make it that much more desirable to any varieties collector..

I can confirm the re-punch on the 7 but can't see any on the 4, there is some irregularity in the top of the horizontal line in the 4 is that what you are noting, it seems like you've seen the coin before, is this a variety?

On re-inspection with the hand lens 20X the top of the horizontal line on the four is doubled, so can you give me any more info on the coin or similar ones you've seen. Really neat to have a re-punched 4 and 7 Blunt 7, '47, thanks for all the help Dollarman, just as pleased as punch.

yup, got one my self, so does someone on the forum and my LCS. the irregularity you see on the 4 is what I'm talking about.

is this a variety?
I'm positive, this is the fourth one I've seen so it cant be coincidence and since I've examined 2 in person I can tell you it was something on the die.

Well done Dollarman, good eye, the die crack was the kicker, if you look at the 7 in a different light it has a doubled bottom and along the top, the four is doubled on the horizontal, my original thoughts of doubling on the N in Canada are still there but on the obverse none. Is the die crack similar in all that you've seen?

some didn't have it but I recognized it from my example, the die crack in yours is progressed further but the same crack.

Hah! I just did an appraisal the other day and a collection had one. I'd never really seen it before.

Playing with my macro lens and the date has what I see as
a repunched 4/4 and a 7/7/7. Die crack through the N in
Canada. Not a recognized variety in the 2012 Charlton
but others have been seen in the wild with the same D/C
and repunched 4 and 7 in the date. This coin was
cleaned.
