@ rob. I sent the seller this message " Pierre you of all people should know this is man made and not an error. In fact it is a counterfeit per say..There is no way it can ever me a mint error as you have 2 coins from different years. That could never happen. Both coins have been mechanically shaved and soldered or glued together."

Lets see what he replies.

Frazzle
These have never come up for sale before and I find it odd that this person has found 3 of these "errors"
I could create 100 of these right now and sell them..
This is coming from a person that sells mostly coins and questionable dremel bits. He should know his stuff.
You are right though, he could be dumb as a sack.

This "error" reminds me of the poppy or ribbon quarter missing its colour (from mint of course), another ruse?

If the mint wanted they could re-issue without the coloration in massive quantities, thwarting the scam.

Reminds me of a stamp error from years ago.
Dag Hammarskjöld with the color misaligned.
Stamps were deliberately made to duplicate the error and the value wiped-out.

I received a message from Pierre and he is sending the coin in to be certified. I told him I used a coin like that when I was younger playing ball as I had one with 2 heads and never lost a toss.

Not only is the planchet a bonafide miracle, a die must have traveled forward or backward in time for it to be struck.

It is amazing how delusional people who should know better become once they see $$$$.

Will a TPG make a declaration?
