Yeah I do thinnk this will take a while and cost a while but it wil be worth it. and kange I said they wil only get a quarter dime nickel and cent due to the fact that I am somewhat tight on money

I'm planing on making a set for my birth year, 100 years before my birth year and 200 years before my birth year. (2001,1901,1801) using Half Cent (if applicable), cent, nickel (or Half Dime), dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar (1801 costs 900-30,000 dollars) |

I like Birth Year Sets.  I collected US mint/proof sets, then expanded a little  From my birth year, I currently have 233 coins from 84 different countries.  |

Thank you and I will try to get the half dollars if they are not too expensive. I also left out my great granduncle who was born on Febuary 27 1915.

I think those are a really great idea. Only problem is if some of the ones you make one for really doesn't care about coins. For example if I made one for my Son, he would just say what am I supposed to do with this and spend them.

I've tried to assemble an 1924 Russian (well, Soviet) coin set for my great aunt who was born in that year.
Realizing I probably won't be able to find the entire thing quickly enough, I gave her the five coins I did find for her birthday (which is in early February). Turned out she wasn't actually interested in coins - and didn't recall ever using these specific types anyway (which, in retrospect, did make a bit of sense) - so, after some vain attempts by me to get her to keep them, she gave them back to me at my own birthday party in January.
I'm still considering assembling a set of some other year for some other relative, but 1928 has a $50+ key, 1970 has multiple $100+ keys, and 1918 has no coins at all besides some rare local issues and the relative in question is dead anyway. (1924 also has a few expensive coins, but they're only expensive because they're silver.)

January1may, you made a nice effort to get those coins for your aunt; sorry she wasn't too taken by them.
I am pure Belgian. Both of my parents were born here in the USA in the 1920's. Their parents (my grand-parents) all came by boat to the US after they were all born in Belgium around the 1890's. Only my mother is left; she'll be 90 this next February.
I've already bought some 1925 Belgian coins (nickels and quarters) for my mother for her next birthday, but have not got anything for her parent's birth-years yet. I'm having trouble knowing ANYTHING about foreign coins, so I first will try to find foreign coin books at the library. I'm hoping all the coins I hope to get are affordable.
If anyone here can clue me into any publishing's that might help me with info on coins from Belgium please send me a message. Thanks!

its a great idea, I will try and source mine at some stage soon, I am lucky as since the late 1960s they released year sets here and they arn't too expansive so I can get my birth year set uncirculated for a modest price

Thank you guys for all of your support. I have bought the 1912 dime and the 1924 quarter. I also have a 1952 quarter and half dollar on the way.

If you think they will like them then go for it. As an admiral of Benjamin Franklin I have to say nice half dollar, hope to get one some day.
Also if you wanted you could pick up a couple of world coins on the cheap from their birth year.
