If the luster is good and stray marks are minimal, I could see it as an MS63. For grades over that, I'd need to see much larger pics.

They did not store on the host site as big as I had hoped. I have them as a 10"x10" on my hard drive if you would like to see them.

Susan, I just sent you some much larger pics via email. The file size is pretty big too!

I got the pics and I'm posting them here for everyone to see:

1887-Morgan-In-Bank-Holder

1887-Morgan-In-Bank-Holder

I see slight rub on the higher points. This is how I interpret the darker areas on the cap and on the breast feathers on the reverse. There are very few bag/contact marks. I see this coin as AU58.

I see, the plastic holder it sits in does rub on the coin in those areas. I need to place it in an Air Tight type holder. I need to figure out how you put the pictures in here. Thank you again for all your help. You are GREAT!

As long as you have a place to host your pics, you just need to paste the url for the pic in the post, highlight it, and click on the image icon in the format line in the reply box. This is the yellow square above the "Color" selection box.

Hmmm, Susan we are not usually this far apart on grades?

With the larger pics I will compromise LOL MS-63 But only because I dont think it is wear on the cap and I think it is toning on the breast, it appears I can see the breast feather detail behind it .

Hi, with the enlarged photo's I would say the coin is an MS63. I do not see the rub and agree that it appears more as toning. The cheek is clean, hair is complete, leading edge of wings and both claws are solid and the breast feathers show typical marks from bag storage. I would however rescue this coin from the current holder as the toning is getting very dark and actually damaging the coin, another reason I see it as a 63. Nice gift from a bank! Mike

It is probably my best Morgan. I got it from a lady that I purchased some Ike dollars and 24k plated Kennedy half on ebay. She threw in this Morgan, a 1925 Peace, 1 Susan B, and 1 Sacagawea's, and 5 more Kennedy Halfs. All for $9.00 and $4.00 for shipping. Not Bad huh?

Okay, I've looked again and have decided that what I'm seeing is not wear. I concur with everyone here at MS63.

Holy Toledo Jack!

two silver dollars for melt silver alone would run $12, much less an uncirc morgan worth $30+
You've bought an intercept shield for this one, correct? That rim toning is attractive now, but won't be forever, if kept in the current holder, as metalman says...

HAHA! Thanks William. It was a good deal! I will see if I can find the invoice from the purchase to make sure my memory serves me. Sorry, I am not sure what an intercept shield is? If it is a coin protector like I assume I did take it out of the bank case and put it in an air tight type holder.

I was off a little bit but still a great buy! She threw in the extra Kennedy half dollars when she shipped it. Check it out! Here is the auction link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...862959&fvi=1

I know the coin looks bad pictured in the auction but I assure you it is the same coin. It is amazing to see the difference between a scan and a picture from a camera. The camera flash catches all the glare on the coin and the plastic case. The flash also reflects off all the scratches on the case. Scanning is so much better!

The 1925 Peace dollar has a deep mirror finish but I scratched the surface trying to remove the tape residue with acetone and a q-tip.

The rim toning on that Morgan is very cool and desirable -- looks like a Redfield Morgan -- and it is NOT "damaged". However, you may want to put it in another holder to keep it from toning darker. Whatever you do, do not clean or dip the coin!

As for grade, probably 63, shot 64. Nice coin!
