Like always, it is better to have the coin in hand to fully appreciate.

First pic is a close up of the 1943 oblong dots and second pic is a close up of the 1943 round dots.

Hope this helps those who are interested, to find an oblong dot example for their collection.

Nice find and great coin! I've never seen this variety. Is it listed in Charlton?

Do not recall this being listed in any reference material.

Maybe someone else has seen it listed somewhere.

You motivated me to pull out my 2 rolls of 1943 pennies that have been stored since the 60s. I found 1 oblong beads.
I also found 4 rotated, 1 double legend, 1 double ada, 1 die break, and 12 that have many missing beads on each coin. Thanks to you Bellmaker I now have a nice start for 1943 pennies.

Nice picture!

Looks like your coin also has a retained lamination error behind the King.

Hi again Bellmaker
I thought I would show you another 1943 oblong beads
that I had in my album of 1943 d/d. This one is better
shape.

Neat coin - now I can drag out those jars of George VI cents I have squirreled away and spent some evenings searching for this elusive error.
