The scratches on the reverse are on the holder. The coin is in a problem free slab... I should have mentioned this when I posted the coin.

VF35 cleaned and scratched. Nevertheless, still a desirable coin

I think most of the reverse problems are a cracked slab, a shame since it's one of the new ones. Hard as I try, I just can't reach VF35 for it but doubt it's a Details coin. Call it VF30.

PCGS graded this VF35 Problem Free. It is a no details coin. SuperDave was right when saying all reverse scratches are on the slab.

Scratches? Always a possibility when photographing a permanently cased coin. Plastic is even softer than metal. Next thing we will have to find out is how to grade slabs! And how to protect and store them.

Isn't there something out there that removes scratches from slabs?

Usually I can see the shadow of the slab scratch, this one threw me off. First guess was VF35, but I think it also looked liked an old cleaning I didn't think PCGS would count, so I lowered my grade guess by 5 points due to that. At a clean grade on the slab I would still think this coin should be slightly discounted a little bit due to the darkness of color and the slightly rough surfaces.

I am going to take a picture of the reverse from a different angle so everyone can see the scratches are on the slab soon.

This isn't a series I study, but I think PCGS got the grade right. It doesn't look cleaned to me, just looks like the typical surfaces of a mid-grade circulated coin. I can also tell that the mark on the reverse is on the slab, not the coin. The dark line is a shadow, if you look closely one can see the scratch on the plastic itself, slightly above the dark line. I like the coin.

If the slab is cracked, could you send it in to get reholdered?
