Yeah I'm hoping to find one around melt but didn't know if they ever went for that. It's a cool collection so far my only coins I need after 1850 is the Peace dollar and two Ike's.

I was in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and the LCS I visited had a box of Peace dollars for $24 each - there were some common ones in Good EF to AU but also some lowball specimens! Would love to get silver dollars for $15!

Ok I found a AG Peace dollar for $16 at one of the coin stores I go to. I didn't grab yet since I'm hoping to see the owner Friday to sell some pieces if he is still interested. Problem is for four to eight dollars more I could get a decent one about xf with good toning. I would be happy to sell him the stuff for $25 so maybe we could make a deal for a nicer junk Peace dollar and two common Ike's I want. Just some proof sets with about $18.30 in face value. I paid $5 over face over them and I'm looking to break even.

Before the huge drop in silver, my local dealer priced any peace/morgan dollar without numismatic value at $23 ($21 USD), grading anywhere from G-VF (I actually picked up a problem free 1890-P in AU-50 from the pile once ). Haven't been there since the drop, I'm guessing pricing has gone down to $20 or thereabouts or the coins have been taken off the shelves completely.

I like that you're doing a lowball 7070. Got any pics of your set so far? I have a lot of lowball Peace dollars, all with original surfaces. Drop me a PM. Maybe we could do a trade for one.

With silver currently at about $16.20 you should easily be able to get lower grade, common date Peace dollars for under $20. They are virtually bullion items. The higher prices that dealers are quoting are probably because they bought when silver was higher and are not ready to lose money.

$22 dollars around here. But I expect the price to go down in a few weeks.

The shop I go to has them this week for $13.50 each. They come in conditions from AG to EF, and all types (year/mint mark). I don't collect dollar coins yet (I buy silver quarters, dimes, and nickels), so I don't really look too much at them.

If you can find honest problem free P-AG Peace where you can still see the MM for under 25, get them. Very often quality low balls are NOT tied to melt value. They do carry a premium. The price actually drops when you go UP in grade to G-F. Those coins are usually closer to melt.

Love the idea of a problem 7070. I personally would love to do a holed 7070 seeing as I have a strong affinity for holed coins.

When I went back for the Peace dollar he was closed early :/ I did get a Shield nickel with no dates but had rays from another dealer. He thought it was a piece of crap and gave it to me for free haha. He gave me a worse one that had a 1870 date on it free a month ago. It was a good day there since I got older and uncirculated 15 wheat cents and that nickel for $6. Some nice 1909 and teens s mint dates. He said his Wheat cent box was too full and needed to be reduced. Not sure he even looked at them. Nothing too valuable but older dates in like VG, a BIE uncirculated 1955 s error wheat, and a blank planchette but not bad for about .35 cents apiece.
