G04 was my (amateur) guess.. thanks.
I actually missed it when I first looked though a pile of halves as I didn't really believe I would find a '16, and then when I looked again.. Hello!

If it were a common date it would probably be an AG-3.
But because it's a semi-key I think G-4 is correct.

jetswilly, sometimes keys and semi-keys get a bump in grade. This one could go either way at 3 or 4, but I'll call it a 4 simply because it's a semi-key.

I strongly disagree with that practice too, but you see it all the time. It's like saying "Those of you with the most money, please come to the front of the line."

Late to the party - sorry. Too much work. I have some experience judging these well-worn Walkers.  This coin exhibits wear consistent with a technical grade of G06 - does not appear to be cleaned or significantly damaged beyond what would be expected during it's circulation lifetime. The key PUP for coins in this grade - to differentiae between G04 and G06 are as follows ... The legends TY of LIBERTY on the obverse - much fainter in G04 than this example. The legends "E" and "U" of EPLURIBUS UNUM on the reverse - still fully formed at G06. The legend "AR" of HALF DOLLAR on the reverse - this seals the deal for me at G06 as I've seen plenty of PCGS G06 coins with exactly the same amount of wear. Anyways - that's my humble opinion ... proud owner of the current #1 lowball PCGS Walker set - and I've searched through over $500K of these well worn coins to find the few truly circulated gems. G06 - My opinion and I'm sticking with it.  David |

I'd also be at G06. This specimen is a dead ringer for the coin shown as an example of a "Good 6" on page 40 of the current monthly edition of Coin World magazine (albeit that one is a 1916-D).
