Thanks guys! I just have a bag for my "foreign" change. I think it's kind of cool so I will hang onto it. I also keep the pre-1981 pennies as well. Eventually it might become a bother if I get too many but I want to make it feel like my searching is going towards something :) For the record only about 1/3 of the pennies I went through were copper. $20 worth is going back to the bank since it was after 82. I always feel awkward asking for change but as you mentioned most of the tellers probably could care less (as long as I'm not dumping the same coins back to them).

Nice Franklin! Welcome to the CCF, from a fellow hunter. Copper variety cents are my thing (incase you couldn't tell from my avatar & name).

Like denny7000 said, I tell my bank I collect. It's paid off before, like the one time the teller held onto a $1 paper wrapped roll of nickels. I've never seen anything like it, and I even showed it to my LCS guys and they were confused about it too. It's in my display case with some other oddities now. You never know what your bank may hang onto if they know you like coin collecting!

If you are concerned about asking for more coin, just place an order for a "box" of $50 cents, or $250 dimes, etc, so you have larger quantities to search. Dump the rejects later at a different bank -

Nice stack of 40%!
Now's the time to get halves, the price of silver is going belly up, and collections are getting dumped!

Call it beginner's luck but my curiosity got the best of me and I had to go back. I asked for some more half dollars and I got the response "we don't have any." I said well last time they had to get them from the vault. She reluctantly got me more but I don't think she was happy about it. Now they are out of them completely. 22/100. Hope my luck continues! I only know of one more bank that has rolls of halves in stock but last time I tried $30 worth and didn't get anything. These finds help reduce the loss I had on some rip off lots I bought on ebay (before I realized ebay sucks to buy coins from)! Overall 36/150 of the halves I picked up were 40%'ers. Crappy condition but I'm ecstatic! Great way to start up my collection!

Wow nice finds. About a week ago I started a "time Capsule" I'm throwing all my spare change into a large jar, and once it full ill lock it up for a couple decades. Wonder what it'll be worth.
