quote: Just as an experiment, I have taken both before and after pics of a cpl of this sellers coins and put a cpl photoshop wizards on it to try and duplicate the process used. Will update when I get some answers.
It's more than Photoshop, this coin was colored with something. If the color looks unnatural, it probably is on ebay.

I sent this link to the engineering dept at work, the cadcam guru blew my mind. He took your after pic and took off all the nicks and gouges ( that are not in the before pic ) in about 3 clicks.
Will work on it somemore, lunchtime is over.

I've put up larger pictures. Have a look of the ebay pic versus my picture: What the coin REALLY looks like:

Is that lint or something besides scratches and dings on the forehead and in front of the face?

Yes, in the 2x2 the coin looked pretty much the same as the picture. However, the color was just not right and I've seen a few Lincoln's in my time. LOL

No lint, I'm real meticulous when I photograph and handle coins.

You can see the blurriness in the "before" picture in front of the face where it was photoshoped or recolored. Now that I look at it more, the first photo has a cracked skull, the second one does not, I think Gary is on to something with it being a switched coin. I just had the same problem with another seller where my coin got switched, it went into a drawn out battle and I lost but did learn some valuable lessons- No mater how much they beg, do not lift the paypal dispute until you are satisfied. Do not leave feedback until you throughly look at the coin. ebay dispute is worthless, hit them with the paypal dispute and lock up the account.

quote: that brown looks a whole lot like the 09 vdb I was follwoing along: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...WA:IT&ih=003 I never bid on it but was tempted but it looks so fake to me.
That coin looks to be recolored too. I'm seeing a bunch of these on ebay lately, I'm getting good a spotting them. IF IT DOESN'T LOOK RIGHT, IT PROBABLY ISN'T! Stay away from these coins!
