Looks like a nice coin to my British eyes.

Just saying ... Not everyone likes shiny-as-new ...

I too think the bad photo's played a major roll in the low ending price. However I also can state from experience when selling that if a coin has very dark toning it can be tough to sell. Not necessarily heavy toning but DARK toning.

Wow. It's tough to screw up a beautiful coin that badly. Imagine that thing under axial lighting and a good lens.

It's a original, beautiful toner and does not need to be ruined by dipping.

I love dark toning. I'll take dark greys and oranges and blues any day over the flashy pinks that seem to be so in vogue right now.

I agree, I would not dip that. It just needs better pictures. That is a nice coin and I would gamble that it is better in hand.

The toning is way too dark to consider dipping; it'd destroy the coin if you tried to remove all of it and partial removal is a really iffy proposition. You don't know if it works until afterward, and the coin is toast if it doesn't.

Reserve not met, didn't sell. Relisted at $100, and accepted best offer.

I don't think the reason it sold for so little is the dark toning. I think it was the terrible photographs of an otherwise nice looking coin.
I agree.
