The only thing I can say about these beautiful pieces is and I wish could have brought some of these from you.

Bob have you posted a picture of yourself? If not would you consider doing so?

Well, I never sensed it was cursed...at least I never woke up with a giant spider on me. And I don't surf, so I don't know if it would have led to a wipe-out...

Egyptian artifacts scare me, maybe because I don't know a lot about their culture or maybe it's because of it being steeped in the occult. It would be my luck that I'd buy a cursed object.

They can be spooky, yes. As you probably know, these ushabti figures were placed in tombs to act as servants to the deceased...

Awesome coins!

I have a couple Egyptian artifacts but mainly Native American artifacts I found on private property including a beautiful stone bowl.

You guys have me curious now...I'd love to see the Minerva statuette, Augutus Maximus...is it ancient or a repro? Vermontensium, I hope you'll post that bowl at some point. Perhaps someone should start a "post antiquities" thread. I suspect that at some point in the past there must have been one on this board. I used to have a nice Greek vessel and a low grade kylix, but have no antiquities anymore.

That would be a cool thread.

I made a "post your native American artifacts" thread a while back in GD but a "share your world artifacts" thread would be very nice!

for me the coins are to beautiful to sell , and like Medieval I have never sold a single coin. It is also a very nice ushabti, saïtic period (7/6 cent BC) I think. In the beginning there were only ushabtis in the kings graves , but from the New Empire on ( from the late 16 cent), they appear also in the graves of the Nobles .In the beginnig just a few ones , later one for every day and an overseer for every week .So there were more than 300 ushabtis , that s why the quality is often so bad ,especialy when made for not to rich people.Hereby a picture of a the upper part of a coffin , 7th century BC , the eyes are in glaspasta and the eyebrowns and the outline of the eyes are copper .It is made of wood ,covered by linnen , then plastered . It is one of the highlights of my collection . Albert

Wow, Albert! That is exceptional...truly museum quality. I am amazed. Usually one sees oil lamps , fibulae, and smaller - often damaged - trinkets of various sorts, in personal collections. Nice things with rich histories, to be sure, but items that would be more at home in museum basements collecting dust than upstairs on display. Congrats on a wonderful acquisition.

Someone should get that thread started...just sayin'.

Wow! Those coins and artifacts are awesome!

I would love to see an antiquities thread too. They're fascinating!

I'd like to get something from the time Christ was on earth.

Erin
