So what is the consensus about it being tooled ?

Aug, I dont think this specimen has been tooled. Generally if the coin is tooled a dead give away is a deep trench between the letters of the legend and the fields between letters will be of less elevation than the fields of the coin. In some cases that might be ok. Tooling usually involves the "artificial" improvement of the details, I don't see that on this coin. Your coins patina appears to be intact and has not been "cut into." I would say its a decent untooled example. Becareful there is a fine line between cleaning and tooling and eventually ruining. This is not tooled, but nicely cleaned. IMHO.

Very good news to hear Echizento. Seller said he would go down to $160.

Nice coin. Looks original to me with most of the obverse legend clear.

Definitely a quality coin of him and while $160 is not a bargain it is not out of line either.

A.M That is why I go for the legend first. Going by the portrait a 'pleb' like me would have put him in the 'Constan . . . .' class. and there he would sit with 16 or 18 others. Perhaps I should have another look at them? 'Flavius Victor' Never heard of him. Oh, well, back to the books.

Vcoins have a few, a bit out of my price range at the moment. AM your article seems to cover just about everything known about him.
