Wow, nice. I used to know a place where I could get bags. I used to find some nice stuff, but they don't sell me bags anymore.

That's a good way to go. 98% of my hunting nowadays is bags.

Sweet, especially if their counter accepts halves...they do take longer for a bag to fill though.

Let me see if I am getting this right...the CU charges you (as a member) 6% over the face of the bags?

No, the CU charges its members 6% to use their coin counter and non members 10%. I am not a member nor do I use their coin counting service.

See if you can find out what day the armored car carrier makes pickups/deliveries. Then go in the day before and pick up what you want. I have two banks that I get any bag I want. The carrier picks up bags of change on Wednesdays. I go in either Monday or Tuesday at one bank and the other will hold them for me until Friday. Here a bag of dimes, quarters and halves are $1000, nickels $200 and cents $50. Bags of dollars are $2000 but I usually don't get them. I will normally take all cents, nickels and then a $1000 dollar bag. I get halves first, then dimes and last quarters. almost every time they will have quarters, every three weeks or so dimes and maybe once or twice a year halves. You CU may do much more volume though. Here all change counter are free except the coinstar machines. Good Luck.

I have found that CU's operate completely different than banks because the customer base is different. The CU's in my town don't have "normal" courier deliveries. This may be hard to believe but one of my CU's will go months without receiving or delivering coin. The first time I asked for a "box" of coins, they looked at my like I was stupid. They had never received a box of coins. I'm guessing they have a vault with extra stashed. Slowly over time, they would accumulate extra coin. When they had more than they wanted, they would hand roll it and call the courier for a pick-up. We made an arrangement that was beneficial to both parties. They would call me every time they were ready to get rid of coin. In return, they would save money on the courier service and save time because there was no need to roll the coin. They would call every 2 to 4 months. Unfortunately, I ended the relationship because there was never any valuable coins. The pennies were ok but the only silver I found was 2 nickels and a single dime.

That is still crazy for a banking establishment to charge their members to use the counting machine to make a deposit.

I wish I knew banking people that could get me boxes and bags. Everywhere I ask say that can't order em and they just send off their coin when its full and don't do anything else with it.

I pick from several different banks... but the general breakdown is as follows:

bank 1: They roll their own change from change machines and never order any coinage in.... I usually pick up a few boxes when they're available

bank 2: I have an absolute bare bones basic account with them that only permits 1 transaction per month for the access to be free.... deposits are free and they have coin counters at all their banks.. I dump all my coin at these banks and if/when I want more $ I make the one withdrawal per month.

Bank 3: I have a no fee account here as well and they still get me their pennies (they're not supposed to be issued any more here in Canada) as well as they let me order bricks and bundles of notes...

Point is with probably a bit of searching from bank to bank you could probably set up a couple accounts that will suit your needs for CRH'ing
