at first I thought it was the top of the 5, but if you overlay two obverses with one upside down, there would be nothing in that area- so I think it is a die chip

I guess I'm a little like Crazy uncle Frank from "ONE CRAZY SUMMER" except I don't smoke and I'm on a computer:

It I'd attached. I suppose it could be laminating from another coin I will talks a closet look to see if I can find any prices from this one missing but I really don't think this one is what it came from. Question. How does metal from delamination physically attach itself to another coin. Does it basically weld itself?

I have no idea tweak 800. it certainly is attached though. it has worn with the rest of the penny. I am thinking there is a five percent plating on a copper penny, if so maybe it is under that?

I am not sure why but I have that happen from time to time. I find that if I just edit my photo (go to resize) and change to 600 pixels, then it does ok.

cool thank you it worked. I used to just click on the image in a post and it enlarged. now I see "pin it" which I assume sends it to some file somewhere. can it still be enlarged for viewing?
