Well I had fun. I think this would be considered a success? $120 worth, the bank didn't have an actual box but they were mixed types of customer and machine wrapped. 35 from 1959 or older 1 1943-S 1 1936-P Buffalo nickel with pretty good date 1 1964 Canadian 1 1975 Canadian 1 1987 Canadian (I don't think this is really something good though) 2000 Bermuda(?) coin (I'm guessing this isn't really good either but kind of unique to find IMO)  |

Great box! For some reason, Bermuda coins pop up every once and a while. They are one of my favorite coins to find because they always have such great wildlife.

Very nice start for your first box+. To address your initial question ... I suggest acquiring a humble Whitman 9009 folder ... circulation strike Jefferson 1938-1961. Keep every example you need to fill the holes ... and upgrade as you go along. The Jefferson nickel is IMHO the only currently circulating USA coin series where it is possible to complete the entire series from bank rolls ... albeit with some patience.  I also suggest keeping all of the nine Jefferson with annual mintage below 10 million, silver War Nickels and of course any Buffalo or V nickels you might come across. I would also keep the 1922-1982 Canada nickels, as they are 100% nickel (metal value is more than face value). Exceptions are 1942-45 and 1951-54, as those are steel like the current ones. I keep all nickels except for Canada steels (started in 2000) thinking that one day copper and Ni will go back to where they were and a nickel will be worth 7 to 8 cents.
You can also look for the speared bison 2005 US nickel. I've never seen one and the odds of finding that error are low.

I agree with nickelsearcher, I'm trying to complete the Jefferson nickel set strictly from roll searching. It won't be easy, but at least it's possible. I don't hoard any of the older stuff I find, just upgrade the set I'm working on whey I find one in better condition. I do keep all the War Nickels. I've only found one Buffalo nickel which I kept, but if they came up more often I might let them go just to give someone else a little excitement. Not holding my breath waiting for my first V nickel!! |

Good luck in your searching, it looks like your already off to a great start.  |

I switched from quarters to nickels. and searched what people were saving. I had login problems with this site and couldn't login from May to July.
