It seems that verdigris is nowhere as invasive on silver / copper alloys, as it is on high copper bronze alloys, or pure copper.
Probably explains why Windex worked so well in this case.

Domestic window cleaner solutions all have much the same formula. They are an alcohol and detergent mixture in a water base with a trace of (usually) blue colour, to make the intending purchaser feel nice about them. Defogging and anti streak chemicals are often added.
Water, alcohol and detergent are all very good solvents in their own right.
The fact that they, in combination, have been able to assist in the removal of inorganic verdigris in this case, is a bit harder to understand.
