Until someone explains to me how only one face of a coin can wear, this one has only circulated to high AU. He wants the grade, not the TPG grade.

Sometimes weak strike can be mistaken for wear.

I'm in agreement with Dave. I have it at AU55

I'd venture mid AU but I am no expert on gold....I don't see a lot of wear to warrant a grade below au50

I'm at an AU-50 or a AU-53 on this one.

I'm no expert, but would the circle around the rim suggest that it was removed from jewelry?

Phaedrus29, that circle appears on many of these coins. However, I'd appreciate an explanation why this occurs with the incuse designs. Anyone know?

Au Grade but a softer strike than average for the year.

Yep, good color and sheen indicative of nice, original surfaces. I would have guessed 55 before seeing the pics.
I don't know the cause of the "rings" but they are common on incuse Indian gold.
