I have heard that lacquering coins in the past was acceptable...what about now? The label does not identify and "details".

Partly that, and partly how the light plays so brightly off of relatively-flat surfaces like denticles and leaves. Further, even if the coin isn't Mint State (a discussion for another day) I'd expect to see a bit of luster, which the lacquer will dull a bit. And all completely subjective, nothing I could present a factual case for.

I was hoping to beat the mailman to the house and take an image for the front of the slab, but (s)he beat me and left the usual pick-up slip in the mailbox. Sometimes effeciency can be annoying.

Glad to know they evaluated strike before choosing the grade. I've seen some pretty poor Lincoln grades from them, but more recent than this holder.
