I think a good rule of thumb is if a rim hit shows on both sides it's considered "details". As far as grade it is probably VF-35.

From what I have seen that relatively minor hit on the rim will not cause a details grade. Nice coin otherwise which I grade EF40.

Well Ed, you really know how to grade these large cents and pick them up for a song. with my strongest opinion on grading this coin ,I'm giving it an EF-40, bless you .YOU THE MAN !!

Just got it back from Bob Grellman and he said it was VF20 net 15 with the rim nicks. I think he graded it a little bit harsh, but...........anyway, it was also an N-23 mds. R.2

I totally disagree with his grade assessment. There is nowhere near the amount of wear that a VF-20 coin would have.

eac grading is pretty strict. Celtic used to grade the same way.
