Nice 35 and not a bad strike for these. I'm not seeing anything obvious as to why this was detailed, other than possible improper cleaning, which is tough to tell on these photos. The only other thing I could see was the possible "strengthening" or tooling on the hair lines on the back of Liberty. But the photos just are not good enough for me to say that for sure.

Shame. Still a nice-looking coin, certainly a 35.

I'll go VF details, probably detailed for an old cleaning, as I don't see any tooling or otherwise distracting things with this coin. A good buy at the right price I would think.

I may have been a little too conservative grading this coin. Considering the variety (B-5), the details appear to be VF30. The picture is not too clear and quite small, but this seems about correct. Cleaned? impossible for me at least to tell from the photos. Here is my example of the B-5, same as the OP coin, for comparison. This coin was graded VF30/VF35 almost 3 decades ago by B&M. Still raw to this day.

I think it should grade problem free but I think PCGS said VF details

Graded Cleaned VF details. I figured around VF-30 details. When you tilt the coin you can see scuffs. I'm selling the coin on ebay. The last picture shows the scuffs. Will try to add one here.

Germanicvs - I'd put your coin at VF30 it's a real beauty of an example. Pretty well struck up too. The OPs photos are a lot smaller and taken through icky slab plastic, but both coins seem to be very similar.

Beautiful coin Bandsdean! A details coin worthy of any collection, I'd be proud to have it mine!
