I have a question for those that use spreadsheets and HTML pages and such like I do. If you also keep coins stored in a book/album/folder that has the info on the coin for you like mintages, does your spreadsheet also contain the mintages and info found where the coin actually is? I have it for my spreadsheet on coins I need like my curious keeping of the under 20 million mintage Kennedy halves and the like of ATB, but not for anything else in my "need" spreadsheet and not on my HTML pages. So what info is most often in a collection tracking spreadsheet?

Excel. I have for the more recent coins (last 200 years) a complete list of all coins minted in the Netherlands, with all relevant info like weight, mintage, material etc. plus (if I have the coin) when and where I bought it for what price and in what quality. Each row contains 1 coin. When opening the spreadsheet, in each row two comments are placed automatically with photos of the relevant coin (one for front, one for back). That way on mouse-over I will see the photo of my coin.
For pre-1800 coins I just have a list of the coins I have, again with all the relevant info and photos.
@shadz, I don't have info like mintages in the album where I keep the coins: the 2x2's don't have that much space to write on. I only write enough there to identify the coin, and keep all other info in the spreadsheet.

I make a sheet for every coin I have with : face value obverse: inscription and description of the coin reverse: the same picture size period references quality mint date I bought the coin if necessary :further details I keep always a copy of the invoice. Then I print everything. albert

antwerpen2306, I know I should do that but I've been procrastinating for so long I don't even know if it's possible any more...
I use Google Sheets for my list of coins. Check it out in my signature!

antwerpen2306: I really like your system. I used to catalogue my silver coins with a software we use at work, but I find it too time consuming (well: work), so I stopped doing that.

I gave up trying to keep track of what I have years ago, Far too much of a hassle. Anyway every now and then I do a "Bin Dive" through my various draws and cupboards and I just Love finding stuff that I had totally forgotten about

I collect ancient Roman coins. I only have 14 of them at the moment so keeping track is not a current problem. I have Word document that lists all of the attributions for the coins. Each coin is in a mylar flip with a piece of paper. On the paper is noted the following information: attribution, place of purchase, date of purchase, amount paid.

ii have a half inch binder with a list of all US coins ever made. I cross out the ones I have. I am also compiling a list of key dates there. The list I downloaded from about.com titled "The complete checklist of United States coins." I have been keeping an inventory on Excel. But it's becoming very unmanageable. Plus it tells me what I have not what I am missing. I downloaded the excel template from somplace on the internet. It is very detailed with quantity, description, demoniation, mkt value, cost paid, location, how obtained, etc.

Another vote for google docs, also use google drive for pictures of coins that I have photographed. Both accessible on my phone if needed at LCS.
