Here is a reference from Mike Diamond's site:

Is your coin bent, or is it flat?

Flat and that was a nice link coop! So the term is collar scar if I were to explain the circular impression that has been mentioned. Learned something new today :-)

So coop, on Mikes article, is this the beginning of a "splash" coin error if more than 1 coin became "fusued"?

On this coin it looks like it has a collar scar on the die that struck it.

Quote:

Off Center Strike With Collar Scar
PART VI. Striking Errors:
Off Center Strikes:
With Collar Scar

Definition: An off-center strike will often show a collar scar on the face struck by the anvil die. A collar scar is a semi-circular groove that lies lateral to the die-struck design and the location of the design rim. The collar scar is produced when the protruding portion of the off-center planchet is forced down upon the top of the collar by the descending hammer die. The strength and completeness of the collar scar varies considerably, and a significant fraction of off-center strikes show no collar scar at all.

Still wondering why the rim is showing on this coin though?

Yes, great find!

I have never seen a off center with a rim like that though?

Was the photo taken with the coin in a plastic holder? If so could you post new photos with the coin out of the holder?

I'm not questioning it as authentic, but wondered why the rim was on the reverse like stoneman227 mentioned.

Looks like it was in a slab or snap-lock holder. Hard to ID as is if that is the case. We need to know.
