I'll go with AU-50 minimum, possibly AU-55. Beauty.

Garoyn, that's fabulous information -- thank you!
Signed up for a 5 year today. It won't let me do a lifetime quite yet.

NGC said MS61. EAC sharpness 55 net grade of 45 due to corrosion spots and rim defect. Still a nice looking coin free of marks.
Welcome to EAC! Be sure to buy the EAC grading guide!

I had it at AU55 as I didn't think there was enough original luster peeking through to go 58. I don't think the rim dig at 10oclock detracts from the eye appeal.

I put up AU50 money and won it for about AU55 money out the door. It's a very average coin. Nothing particularly makes you go "ooooh" when you look at it, but it doesn't make you go "ewwww" either. As a common date and not particularly scarce variety, it was much cheaper than the other Two Cents I bought; I bought this one as a nice little bonus. Seller's pictures may be hurting the presentation; I think they're very flat, so I'll reshoot it when I have the slab in hand this week.

Paralyse, you can PM me for more info on the secret FB forum the EAC uses for now, the old forum went down last year. Glad to see you joined up! It's a really great club, you will certainly enjoy the CD of all the Penny Wise issues you get, my intro pack took almost 2 months to arrive though.

Thanks Westcoin. Large Cents, Half Cents & Colonials are hazardous to one's wallet... :P Edit: I already had the EAC grading guide previous to joining up. Ordered it from Wizard awhile back when I was buying some verdi-care.

After reading through the EAC grading guide.."now" I finally get it, LOL. Amazing how much higher the TPG grades are than EAC grades in some cases.

I'm still learning to grade the EAC way now, I took the ANA Summer Seminar grading courses basic, advanced (3 times) over the years, then at the last EAC convention in Irvine, TX I took their class. I learned so much at the EAC, not more than the ANA advanced courses (which last a week) the EAC class was only a couple of hours, but I had just received and read the EAC grading guide and that helped along with some great guys to share thoughts with on each coin that was passed around, the instructors were also great. EAC back issues of Penny Wise magazine has many articles on grading, but nothing can teach you better than sitting down with some experts and a bunch of old copper and just discussing them, wear, recoloring, counterfeits, etc.
