Looks like a lam to me.

It may well be a lam, but I have literally seen 100's of lams and the characteristics (raised and thick) of this look somewhat different to me. That said, I have been wrong before and I truly appreciate your opinions.

Oh, and timras14, I just pm'd you. Sorry I missed your reply.

Jmo, but I think it's a lam, the raised areas look like lam edges worn since 1952.

I have to wonder how cudsoncoins came to this conclusion. Looks like die cracks to me, but they don't go past the rim of the coin. The 1950's cents are notorious for die cracks on Lincoln's head, that's what I think it is. Yes, I did look at the link and saw it listed on the site.

Myself I'd like to have a definitive answer for future references-I do see a rim to rim die crack with marked vertical displacement as to why the rim is not involved? Not sure if the vertical displacement is enough to warrant Retained Cuds or if rim needs to be involved but I would think so...hmmm

I'm not sure if this pick will help, but I am wondering if maybe it is worn where it involves the rim.

I think so sudz-and after looking closer at yours and the one on cudsoncoins my guess is they do go through the rim and neither of these pics are showing it well enough I think to have that amount of displacement it would have to go through the rim

gracie, instead of doing the quick reply, you can hit reply to topic and do it there... or you can memorize the symbols to type
