With a name like Dick Justice on a short snorter I bet you could get a nice premium on that alone if you wait for the right buyer... I'd put it on for $100 usd with a make offer and see what happens

The Vernon Lucke listed above is the only one listed in any WWII database that I can find. He served with the 48th Mobile Reclamation and Repair Company of the 9th Service Group in the 9th Air Force.
I could not find a roster for this unit so it is not clear whether the signers served together.
Short snorters are one of my favorite things to collect. You can trace names on many of them to specific units, locations, etc. If you are lucky you can find Medal of Honor recipients, senior military leaders and celebrities among the signatures on a note.

This really is a fascinating piece of history. How many signatures do you think would even be legible if signed this day and age?

Sometimes it is a challenge to identify signatures but it can be made easier if you locate a unit roster. The difficult part is that many people, officers in particular, used initials for first and middle names.

Not the same Edward McCallum. The Congressional Record you cite is from 1999 and indicates he is on active duty in 1999. Doubtful that he was in service for 50+ years.

Didn't he have his entire short snorter display stolen out of his car at the Portland show?
