CSOTUS: I just bought a dozen fakes of the no-no site for this exact reason. I was going to post them in the grading section for a learning experience but this topic seems more appropriate.

Could you post some pictures of these?

I think one of the best things for the hobby at this time would be some new developments in XRF technology, i. e. making it way cheaper.

I have about 30 counterfeits from the no-no site. Do you guys want me to post pictures of all of them?

@ the mods: where would be the best place to post them if there is a resounding yes to the above question?

While I feel fairly confident in my internet buying skills, I tend to prefer coin shows, local shops and club meetings. Knowing the seller is a good thing!

I will scan mine in tomorrow. I am about to lay down before work tonight. Unless otherwise told, I will post them here.

Here is my current collection of fake coins. I hope the images and weights will help someone in the future.

Thanks for posting the photos. With some experience, all that you show could be easily spotted as counterfeit.

I noticed that none of the toning looks quite right, and the legends (especially dates) are bold and mushy.

Do TPG's weigh the coin when determining if they are real or not or can most graders spot them as soon as they are seen? How much should we worry about a fake coin slipping past a TPG?

It has happened. There was a post about a fake 1864 L Indian in an NGC slab. NGC made right, though.

I am confident they are weighed and measured but at the same time the graders should be able to spot them right when they hit the desk.

The problem isn't the TPG letting on slip in a real slab it's the Chinese making the fake slab
