That's the way I'm doing it.......If I could have ordered two....I'd have kept one and looked to selling one in the future. But I have to have one for me !

I ordered one of the 3 pc sets as well and I plan on keeping it ! I'll be only one of 25,000 people lucky enough to own one. I tried to get through to the mint the day they went on sale (redial, redial, redial !) and didn't get through to a live person till 2.5 hours later ! I also ordered 2 of the $5 gold proof coins and 1 uncirc $5 gold coins....but like I've said ... Eyeluvcoins !
Have a great day !

All the coins in the set are available seperatly for a total lower price. You are paying $25 for the packaging. Dump the set at a profit and buy the coins for your collection. You do collect coins, right?

Sell and put it toward a 09-S VDB. You will be way ahead of the game.

I ordered the other day...I got through the first time I tried calling and only waited for about 4-5 minutes on hold!
Mine will more than likely be sold and I won't feel evenly slightly guilty about it.

I got through to the US Mint in less than a minute this morning. Mine will ship FedEx for only $4.95 S&H.
The $5 gold piece is interesting. It's a 1/4 ounce piece, not 1/10 ounce like the Gold American Eagle $5 piece. Any ideas why this is not a $10 commemorative gold piece?

Since there's NO LIMIT on the number of gold coins being minted......I bet they follow the rising gold market with their prices too....... Later in the year the same coin or set will go up to reflect market/profit ! I like gold ! And I'm just glad I'll have mine early. I don't want to "bust the set" or put together my own individually......I want "that" one ! And I want it in U.S. Mint packaging which i'll happily pay extra for. (makes it worth more like that too in some cases) Maybe my great grandchildren will appreciate that too I hope. Personal preferances I guess........

Any ideas on why this $5 Gold commemorative is a 1/4 ounce piece? Most ebay auctions are not noting this weight figure. I assumed it was a 1/10 ounce piece like the Gold American Eagle series until I checked out usmint.gov and read the information. I still can't believe the prices these are going for on ebay when the mint is still selling them via the telephone. Any comments?

Nope, only 100,000 across all product options are available for the gold coin quote: Any ideas on why this $5 Gold commemorative is a 1/4 ounce piece?
The Mint does not produce 1/10oz commems and all of the $5 commems are pre-1933 half eagle($5) weight standards.

Why do they cost more as a set than as individual pieces? Is it just because of theholde that holds all 3? I think it should be somewhat cheaper since they do save on material on only making holder for all three instead of 3 separate holders. Just doesn't make sense to me. Seems like a way to rip off newbies.

They cost so much because the maximum mintage is 25,000. They are selling high on ebay even though they are still available at the mint because it's a limit of one per household and the dealers (and hard-core collectors) want more than one set.

So likely this will be a "hot item" for awhile, then after time passes the price will come way down on the " ebay Mania" ? And a few years from now (if gold doesn't get crazy) the proof set will be worth $50.00 more than we paid for it ? I still didn't buy to sell it and make a profit....... I got it as a neat addition to an ever growing collection of Moderns & Classics........ There are a lot of Classic coins one could buy with the cost of this Bald Eagle Proof set that's for sure......... but........dang it....... I just like this set !

I second that, Eaglefoot !! "Buy the coins (s) for the love of the coin (s), not necessarily because you'r looking to turn a profit !
