I have no problem opening the capsule. It's the getting the coin out part that gives me the problem.

Is it an ASE? They might have put it in a 40.0 mm capsule instead of a 40.6 mm capsule. If that is the case, no you can't get it out without cracking it. I know because I accidentally did that once with an ASE bullion coin.

Try putting it in the freezer for a few minutes. Both the coin and the plastic will contract just a bit. When you take it out of the freezer, the coin should come out relatively easily. Almost always works for me.

Oh, so that's how the phrase "cold cash" came about.

No, a little freezer action will not hurt the coin. It's just a piece of metal. It can handle extreme temps way better than us humans.

This is why I stopped using the air-tites. They do their job remarkably well. Don't misconstrue my stopping of using them with they are of poor quality because they are very well made. I just hated to handle them (too slippery) and also very difficult to get the coin out should I want to.

Quote: what finally caused it to come out? I squeezed the sides and tapped with my fingers on the back.
