Where'd you find it?

Just in a bunch of coins I've had for a long time. I've lately been looking through all the coins and coin books I've had since I was a kid (circa 1960's). Yesterday I found a 1945- Micro S Mercury dime and the day before I found a 1931-S Buffalo nickel in very nice condition. I have no idea where or when I collected them. It's a lot of fun.

I collected them by date and mint in the 60's I'd heard of a doubled die, bar nickel, Cud, etc., but didn't start learning what they really are till about a year ago.. right here. Funny I always looked for a Bar Nickel, but it took me till 2015. You're right, it is a lot of fun, any and everything else in this hobby comes off of that.
I've noticed the expert appearances on here have been infrequent lately, hope one will look at your coin. Getting late - catch you later.

I am going to say it is either the lighting playing tricks or a very mild case of Machine Doubling. It cannot be part of the doubled die because on a doubled die all of the doubling is going the same direction. The doubling or the "supposed doubling", might be the better term, on the lips is on the right side of the device. Whereas the true hub doubling is all on the left side.

Looks like it. I found two of these in a unc. roll that I bought all the same doubling on the nose, lips, ear, bust.
