It is some kind of traditional Chinese script.

I can sort of make out the first line - 'navy 2nd class award' I think, the rest of the text is unclear.

The coin's side with the Camel reads: 'people's republic of China year 57', '31st day 10th month'

Is it correct if I think that 'people's republic of China year 57' is at the top
and '31st day 10th month' at the bottom?
(I am trying to understand the Chinese dating)

Hi again. The story of the medal gets more interesting. I chanced upon a Chinese colleague who did a little research and found a blog that provided a description: <<This medal is from Taiwan where Chiang Kai-shek retreated from Chinese mainland. It was a gift made by Kuang-kai Liu (an admiral) to Chiang Kai-shek for his 82th birthday on Oct. 31 1969 (57th of the Republic of China). The winged camel means "Miracles could happen". It is a blessing to Chiang Kai-shek, because in Sept. 1969 Chiang had a very serious traffic accident and almost lost his life and he was recovering after a month.>> My colleague also provided a pdf of the blog, which has images of the medal in the same packaging you posted. The image attribution is http://www.coinsky.com, which is a Chinese auction site that takes pride that over 80% of their coins are genuine!

The document's entirely in Chinese and there are embedded scripts and links that I will not open, but I could email it to you if you are interested in pursuing this further.

Sorry, it seems that new members such as ourselves are banned from using the CCF email system. I have no way to contact you privately. My forum skills are limited... is there another way?

I did a "Report Post" since I heard that is the best way to attract attention. However, that was awhile ago so we may be on our own.

To become "Valued Members" we need more posts. Then we'd have the privilege of email.
