Right. The RP treatment generally comes out looking pretty sharp and I'd expect the same for Reagan.

I thought it proper of me to validate a comment like my one above. This is the best pic I have of Regan with that classic dropped smile. I had to crop it because I didn't want to show others. That's my grandpa with Regan and other friends on a horse back boys trip either right before or right after his presidency as I know the secret service wouldn't let him make the trip while he was potus. Sorry for the glass glare, didn't wanna take it out

You can see how well they depicted his unique smile on the coin though

I have the highest respect for President Reagan and what he did while in office and with all due respect to all that have posted in this thread; I am having a hard time warming up to the design of this coin. Perhaps I will change my mind when I have the real thing in my hands. I am also very glad this series is at an end. I hope the mint will "let it go" and maybe give things a rest for a while or come up with a different idea for the collecting community.

You're definitely not alone there, Oldephriam, though as I mentioned above I'm coming around on it slowly.

Nice photo, Cascade.

Here are a couple of photos from my 2016 Reagan Ranch calendar to show his smile.

I think this would make a nice basis for a commemorative dollar image. Reagan wielding a pair of axes. Seems like Ronnie took up the Vampire Hunter title from ole Abe.

Thanks jbuck. Talked to my pops and he said that pic was just after he left office. And he reminded me of one of his favorite Regan stories where he had a water gun fight with him and how his SS detail didn't like it very much.

Reagan's teeth look a heck of a lot straighter in jbuck's photos than is depicted on the $1 coin; which isn't surprising because a former actor should have perfect-looking teeth.

I had the privilege of meeting Ronald Reagan and briefly speaking with him during the 1980 campaign.
The coin design is OK but I have the living memory of him face to face while shaking my hand which no artistic rendering could possibly capture.

Did anyone catch Bruce Campbell playing Reagan on the campaign trail in the last season of Fargo?

I don't think any actor can accurately portray Reagan with all his unique physical AND vocal attributes but Bruce did a decent job imo
