also, there is no way to know, which were minted first... the US Mint uses a LIFO method of storage. So they mint a 100's of thousands and stack them on pallets..
Coins made artificially rare by high grade that are minted in huge numbers are not rare, and therefore should not attract a large premium.
Otherwise, the Mint would make a 'killing' for themselves, not the collectors of their products.
It's only a glorified bullion coin, after all.
This intending seller obvoiusly has no idea of it's actual retail market value. He is hoping that an intending buyer has no idea of it's actual value, either.

If I have this correct, the seller believes he is selling the 1st coin from the first box... A closer look at the holder shows this coin is #11 from the first box..
That's funny. And he obviously doesn't know that the mink keeps every fist and last coin struck in a run. They keep the actual and true first strikes (and last)
He mox did you see the recent story where cops were called to wrangle a unicorn that escaped a children's birthday party. Of coarse It was just a pony with a headband on but hilarious nonetheless
The seller knows exactly what he has. He is a coin dealer and if you believe his spiel, his family "venture" has been selling coins for over 50 years. What he is selling, is "mystery and possibility". He wants to entice you into believing that, as this coin was taken from the very first box shipped from the mint in 2010, this could possibly be the very first ASE minted in 2010.
Of course as was said before, they are batch minted by the hundreds of thousands. Then randomly put into monster boxes. The best you can narrow it, is you got one from the first box "shipped", not even the first box minted.

I have never heard nor read that? Where are they kept and catalogued?
I don't know denco. I saw it on a youtube video from 2011 or 2012 that was posted on another forum. I tried to find it to post here but couldn't. I'll look harder though. But yea, they showed how they kept both the first and last from each batch for testing and comparing I belive but they made no mention of what they do with them after I believe. If I find the video I'll post it
