Quote: Thanks for your concern. Things are moderately okay. Fighting the side effects of my treatment is taking its toll, however. Still doing a little roll searching, but limited (maybe one roll over 2 or 3 days).
We did take time to go on a cruise celebrating our upcoming 56th wedding anniversary and my completing 10 years as a Stage IV Cancer survivor. That was very nice - we ended up with total VIP treatment!
Support from this group has been greatly appreciated.
Thank you! Thankful to hear a reply back! Glad to hear all is well :)

Just last night, a lady friend of mine told me that she was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the same nasty that killed my wife. That is probably why she shared her news with me. So, while she is still feels happy and reasonably well, we went to a live Boy George concert last night. Some of us are unbelievable! She had a dose of chemotherapy earlier in the day, and had the bandage on her arm to prove it. I showed her on my mobile 'phone, what I had posted on page 8 of this thread. THAT did quite a lot to help settle her spirit, and not just in a temporary way.

Some rough stats: Nearly half of the population will die of cancer of some sort or other Nearly half of the population will die of cardio - vascular failure of some sort or other. All of the rest of us will die of a huge range of causes not related to the two large groups mentioned above. At this stage, I have no idea what may kill ME, but rest assured, I will definitely be in one of the groups mentioned. I treat every new day as if I had just received good news that my (fatal) ailment is in remission. We ALL have a 100% failure rate. ** Thank GOD ! I would hate to live into a very frail high dependency, but otherwise healthy existence, where my kids have gotten old and died before me. **I have found by experience, that some of the people whom I have come to love, and are close to death, find this information very satisfying and re assuring. So, look forward to your final years (or weeks), with good cheer. I WILL be studying and collecting coins until it is impossible to continue any further.

A wonderful friend of mine diagnosed with pancreatic cancer was given 2 to 6 months to live by his doctor...
He lived another 10 years.
He was half German; half Irish. Stubborn almost to a fault. Had multiple short fuses going simultaneously and I loved him like a father.
For him it was 99% attitude. I say this because I truly believe miracles find those who fight and have a positive attitude. God bless.

I have been a lookielou on this site for a while. Wanted to say hi. Its nice to look at the various coin types and examples...I saw this post and wanted to give feedback. My father has had a malignant growth on his ear since the 1980's. He's never had radiation or chemotherapy. He's doing great and has a rub some dirt on it attitude for dealing with it. A tough old bird thats in his 80's.
With that said, I've had a Grandma, an aunt, a cousin, and two second cousins die from the "treatments" of Cancer. Radiation burned them so bad that it killed all of them. My aunt and Grandma both hemoraged from the radiation. Why am I telling everyone this? If you are diagnosed with Cancer, think for yourself. Don't simply rely on the doctors. Cancer is big business because its very scary when you get a diagnosis. Look at all your options( diets, stem cell research, immunotherapy, hypothermia therapy, Healing is Voltage, church prayers, etc). Know your options. Know your quality of life for each option. Talk with people that went through your future treatments. Use youtube to see what others are saying. It might just save your life and keep you healthy. Hope this helps. Note: I am not a doctor and am expressing my opinion based on my experiences with Cancer. I myself had a basil cell carcinoma removed. No big deal but its still scary to hear when you have a form of cancer.

to the forum Cent you us! Your post is so true it can not be understated. Lucky for me as coincidental as it is I've been investing in Merck for past 20 years monthly so I was always keeping up with and following most of their blockbuster trial drugs especially their most recent keytruda so I knew all about it and how unbelievable it's been doing especially for melanoma(it's original target cancer now approved for at least 5 others and growing fast) never in a million years thinking I myself would one day need this very drug to save my life. Long story short I had something like 5-7 different choices I could make for treatment,of course drs would advise but choice was totally up to me. My oncologist favored opdivo but I needed to(for myself)and wanted to go with keytruda. I could of chose basic chemo among other treatments as well but chemo is and has been very poor at treating mel but was always the go to in the past to prolong life. Who knows how my body would of reacted to opdivo I'll never know but keytruda saved my life and may possibly be in remission already from a stage 4 diagnosis I will know in next month or so they don't want to do pet scans on me because of my age that's why it's a process to find about remission I'm fine with that. I am extremely blessed, lucky and grateful-interest and reading made me unknowingly so knowledgeable for what life was about to throw at me. Good luck to all that have to deal and stay positive!
